Finished work. Showing up to paint has been harde Finished work.

Showing up to paint has been harder than usual while I’ve been in my grief but these paintings, while challenging, have given me somewhere to focus and have been a welcome distraction.

Inspired by 1970s cocktail culture, each glass helped me build a small world where time doesn’t exist, where ice doesn’t melt, the drink never empties, and everything can linger just a little bit longer.

A quiet moment that time cannot touch.

We only had eight years together, but those 8 years where brighter and more joyful than I could have ever imagined. She had a big personality which also came with a big attitude. She was famous for her side-eye but there was not one day that went by that she did not make me laugh.

My heart is broken, but I know it only breaks where there has been immense love. She taught me how to love more fiercely, be more patient and remember that sometimes all you really need is a little treat.

I know Eva touched many lives, which is why I wanted to share this. It's been a long, heavy week but I know that her spirit will still be beside me as I paint, keeping me company on my desk.

If you have a have a furry best friend, please go give them a very big hug and go do whatever their favourite thing is this weekend.
